Our district, like many in California, is facing declining enrollment impacting our funding and requiring us to consider closing and consolidating schools. This is a emotional issue for our community, and we are committed to a transparent, equitable, and community-driven process. Learn about the closure and consolidation process, the reasons behind it, and how you can stay informed and involved.

At the Feb. 19, 2025, VCUSD Board of Education Meeting, the governing board voted to close Mare Island Health and Fitness Academy, moving Vallejo Charter there, and to close Loma Vista Environmental Science Academy. Acknowledging financial challenges, the Board also unanimously approved $12.8 million in budget cuts, which included $7.4 ,million in staffing reductions. All closures and budget reductions will take effect in the 2025-26 school year.
