Emergency Update

Earthquake Update: Dec. 4, 2024 Part 2
Dear VCUSD community,

We have been informed that the tsunami warning has been canceled. We are grateful that our community remains safe.

Students who have not been picked up may stay at school for the rest of the day. Students returning from field trips are currently on their way back to their schools.

This serves as a good reminder to always be prepared for emergencies. Please take a moment to review your emergency plans at home and work to ensure we’re all ready for a situation.

Thank you for your continued attention and care.

Earthquake Update: Dec. 4, 2024
Dear VCUSD community,

This morning at 10:44 a.m. Humboldt County experienced a large earthquake that triggered a tsunami warning along the west coast. Currently, our students and staff are not in any immediate danger.

As an extra precaution, you can pick up your student(s). However, we will remain open for students who cannot be picked up. Please check in at the main office to sign your child out if you are choosing to pick them up.

Any students on field trips will follow the safety procedures at their venue. We are in contact with staff and teachers on the trips; they will leave when it is safe.

Please be assured that the local police and fire department closely monitor the situation with the Office of Emergency Services.

We will keep you informed of any significant developments. In the meantime, please remain attentive to any updates and follow any safety instructions provided.

Thank you for your cooperation and dedication during this time. Your understanding and support are greatly appreciated.
