Become a Volunteer at VCUSD
Whether they’re assisting in classrooms, chaperoning a field trip, or helping at a district-wide event, volunteers play a vital role in Vallejo City Unified School District's mission of delivering a high-quality education to every student.
Step 1: Gather Your Documents
Gather the following required documents to complete the volunteer process:
- Tuberculosis test result (result must be within three years or a current TB risk assessment signed off by a medical provider)
- Valid government-issued ID
Step 2: Complete the Application
Complete the volunteer application online.
-
The application requires your TB clearance date. The form will be collected once you have completed the paperwork process.
- Print the forms from the link shown after your application is submitted. If you do not have access to a printer, please stop by Human Resources to pick up a copy.
Note: If you answered "yes" to any question regarding your background, please provide a written statement that includes details about the circumstances, dates, names, cause, and any sentence or fine. Failure to submit the written statement may delay the process and could prevent you from becoming a volunteer. Send the statement to HR@vcusd.org with the subject line "Volunteer Background Statement."
Step 3: Complete a Live Scan
As a volunteer, you will need to complete a Live Scan. A Live Scan is a background check that is processed through the Department of Justice (DOJ), which requires being fingerprinted. Request the Live Scan form from either of the following service locations:
The UPS Store
101 W American Canyon Rd.
American Canyon, CA 94503
The UPS Store
3505 Sonoma Blvd #20
Vallejo, CA 94590
Complete the application information section of the "Request for Live Scan Service" form. You have to print the form to complete it.
Note: You must have a valid government-issued ID to be fingerprinted.
Step 4: Clearance
You will receive a volunteer clearance letter via email for your records.
Most clearance questions can be addressed at your child’s school site by the designated staff member(s), who will be updated regularly on the progress of a volunteer application.
