These lessons have been created to reduce the risk of becoming infected with HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and to reduce the risk of an unplanned teen pregnancy. Content varies by grade but lessons consist of the following main topics:

Information Sessions for Parents/Caregivers

Once a year, parent/caregiver informational sessions are provided in both English and Spanish so that families can learn more about the curriculum, how to effectively communicate with their children about these sensitive topics, and who to contact if they have questions. At this time, if you have questions about these specific units of study, you can contact Danielle Brever through email at dbrever@vcusd.org.

Curriculum Preview Requests

Families may preview the curriculum at the District Office or school site upon request. Material must stay on campus and cannot be photographed or copied due to copyright infringement.

Notice of When Study Begins

Parents/caregivers must be notified in writing before the unit of study begins. By law, a written request to the teacher and principal excusing a child from instruction may be sent in before the unit begins. The school is responsible for finding an alternate location for the student to complete other work during the Puberty Ed or Sexual Health instruction.
