Home and Hospital Program
The purpose of home and hospital (HH) instruction is to provide instruction to a student with a temporary disability in the student’s home, hospital, or other residential health facility, excluding state hospitals.

What Defines a Temporary Disability?
A temporary disability is defined as a physical, mental, or emotional disability incurred while a student is enrolled in regular day classes or an alternative education program, after which the student can reasonably be expected to return to regular day classes or the alternative education program without special intervention.
Referral Process
General Education
The parent/guardian will need to set up a meeting with the student’s counselor to discuss the options that would best serve the student’s needs.
Special Education
If your child has an Individualized Education Program (IEP), a change of placement IEP must be held, and Home and Hospital instruction approved by the IEP team for the new instructional setting. A copy of the meeting notes MUST accompany your application.
Application Forms
To apply for Home and Hospital, both general education and special education students must have a medical or psychological condition, verified by a licensed physician or psychiatrist.
Home and Hospital Guidelines
Instruction Time
Students are entitled to a maximum of 5 hours per week of home instruction. Meeting times are arranged between the parent/guardian, student, and HH teacher.
School Devices
Students are responsible for keeping devices safe and being on Zoom/google meets on time at the established hours if being instructed virtually.
Minimum and Maximum Enrollment Time
The minimum time a student can be enrolled in Home and Hospital is three weeks up to a maximum of nine weeks.
