Technology and Information Services - Vallejo City Unified School District

The Technology and Information Services Department (TIS) is responsible for managing email services, voice and communication systems, database systems, and network infrastructure. We also maintains local and mobile workstations, peripherals, servers, routers, switches, and software applications. Additionally, TIS oversees the student information system, ensures network security, supports multimedia and audiovisual systems, and supports district website development and social media management.

ParentSquare is the tool used by VCUSD staff to communicate with parents (and students at the high school level) about important events and occurrences within our district. With ParentSquare, we can send a Post to many people or a Message to an individual. Visit the ParentSquare Help Pages for support as a parent or staff member.

GoGuardian

GoGuardian allows teachers to greatly increase the amount of instructional time in the classroom by giving them insight into student activity and managing the use of Chromebooks in the classroom. Among other things, teachers and administrators have the ability to:

lock a Chromebook for up to five minutes during class time
view in live time a student's screen and open tabs
push a webpage out to all Chromebooks simultaneously
allow/block particular sites
view a student's browsing history

Scope and Sequence
The Technology Scope and Sequence document outlines K-12 digital literacy and technology skills aligned with Common Core standards. It details grade-level competencies across areas like digital citizenship, keyboarding, multimedia, and research, with skills introduced, reinforced, and mastered to support online assessments and responsible technology use.
5 Lab
5Lab gives instructional leaders the ability to make data-driven decisions to better support students at the school. Whether by subgroup, grade level, or course, objective data can be used to identify strengths and areas that need improvement.
Google Workspace
VCUSD utilizes the various tools within Google's G Suite at the classroom level to support learning, collaboration, creativity, and skills that will promote college and career readiness.
GoTo Connect
VCUSD utilizes Go-To Connect, a cloud-based communications platform that combines VoIP phone service, video conferencing, messaging, and collaboration tools in one. It’s designed for seamless communication across teams, making it easy for organizations to connect remotely.
IncidentIQ
IncidentIQ is a support platform tailored for K-12 schools, helping streamline IT requests, manage assets, and improve service workflows. It integrates with district systems to make resolving tech issues and tracking inventory efficient and organized. Submit a ticket to receive technological support.
Office 365 Education
Using your vcusd.org account, any staff member can create an account that allows them to access the Microsoft suite of tools (minus Outlook) using a web browser platform. This means a staff member can access these Microsoft tools using a Chromebook, MacBook, or Windows device.
Using Chromebooks
Find Chromebook support, covering setup, troubleshooting (e.g., updating OS, managing CPU), and offline apps like Google Docs and Gmail Offline. It also includes ChromeOS keyboard shortcuts and links to a page on approved Chrome apps and extensions.
VCUSD Chromebook Directory for Students and Staff
VCUSD’s Chromebook models, noting each model's common uses, maintenance needs, and Google Auto-Update Expiration dates. Models include Lenovo 100e, Lenovo 300e, ASUS C214, and Dell Latitude series, among others, with notes on common issues and end-of-support dates.
