Teacher Residency Program with Alder GSE

Our focus on pairing educational theory with practical experience sets us apart. The first residency cohort for 2025-26 is full, but applications for the second residency cohort during the 2026-27 school year are open now!

Application Deadlines and Program Credentials

You'll engage in a yearlong apprenticeship alongside an experienced mentor teacher, a unique feature of our program. This combination of learning and mentorship prepares you to make a direct and lasting impact on students and the communities you serve.

To be eligible for the Teacher Residency Program, candidates must have earned a bachelor's degree by June 2026 and have a minimum GPA of 2.65. A GPA appeals process is available for those below this requirement. Additionally, applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Upon completion of the program, you'll earn both a master's degree and a teaching credential, with priority consideration for a full-time teaching position at Vallejo City Unified School District. Credential offerings include Multiple Subject (K–8), Multiple Subject with Bilingual Authorization (K–8), Single Subject (6–12) in English, Math, or Science, and Education Specialist — Mild to Moderate Support Needs.

Tuition

Tuition for the 2025-2026 Cohort is $23,290. Tuition for the 2026-2027 Cohort will be set by December 2025. The program is in Vallejo, offering an immersive experience within the local community. The Teacher Residency Program offers a comprehensive financial support package, including a $32,000 living stipend, with additional state and federal grants up to $15,000. You may also qualify for scholarships of up to $10,000, along with access to federal financial aid and loans totaling up to $46,000.
