Vallejo High HBCU Fair

On September 15, VCUSD partnered with U-CAN (United College Action Network) to host the 27th Annual Historically Black Colleges & Universities Recruitment Fair at Vallejo High School — and our students showed up ready. Recruiters from 30-35 HBCUs packed the gym, giving Vallejo students face-to-face conversations with representatives from schools like Xavier University of Louisiana, Shaw University, Delaware State, Benedict College, and dozens more. The results speak for themselves: on-the-spot admissions, application fee waivers, and even on-the-spot scholarships, including at least one Vallejo student who walked away with a full-ride offer to Livingstone College! From juniors gathering info to seniors leaving with acceptance letters in hand, this is what college access looks like when a district and its community partners show up for students. Huge thanks to U-CAN and every HBCU that traveled to be with our Redhawks. This is just the beginning of the journey.
