VCUSD Begins Planning for Its Next Strategic Plan

At its Aug. 26 study session, the VCUSD Board of Education reviewed the district’s current Strategic Plan and began discussing the process for developing a new plan to guide the district beyond 2027.

The presentation highlighted progress in graduation rates, attendance, and family engagement, while also identifying areas requiring continued attention—particularly reading, mathematics, student attendance, and equitable outcomes for all students.

The board also discussed proposed goals for the 2026-27 school year and a community engagement process that will include students, families, employees, and community partners. Beginning this fall, families will have opportunities to participate through surveys, school forums, community meetings, and other activities.

Community feedback will help shape the district’s priorities, goals, and direction for the coming years. A draft of the new Strategic Plan is expected to be shared for public review in early 2027, with board consideration planned for spring 2027.
