Instructional Accommodation
The District encourages the early, informal resolution of complaints at the site level whenever possible. Parents or guardians of students in VCUSD are urged to discuss their concerns directly with the school site employee(s) in question. The outline below sets forth the process for addressing a student’s academic or safety concerns and will govern communications between staff and others in the VCUSD community. If any step in the line of communication is not followed, the issue in question will be immediately referred back to the first skipped level.

If you have a concern that you would like to address, please file a complaint or request using the forms below. Be sure to note which form you should fill out by reading the form descriptions.
Instructional Content Accommodation Request
You may request an accommodation regarding particular instructional materials or topics. Where legally required, the district will provide the option to excuse the student from specific instruction and offer an alternative activity of similar educational value. Administration will contact you to discuss appropriate steps that can be taken, consistent with legal requirements and district expectations.

Uniform Complaint
Complaints about civil rights issues, educational programs, schools, discipline, staff, transportation, grades, transfers, students, instruction or instructional materials, suspension, civil rights, employee complaints, or other similar areas.

Williams Complaint
This complaint procedure is concerning deficiencies related to instructional materials, conditions of facilities that are not maintained in a clean or safe manner or in good repair, and teacher vacancy or misassignment. The complaint and response are public documents as provided by statute. Complaints may be filed anonymously.
