VALLEJO, Calif. -  The Vallejo City Unified School District’s two high schools, Jesse Bethel and Vallejo High Schools will host a College and Career High School Open House. Jesse Bethel High School will open its doors on Tuesday, May 24, and Vallejo High School will welcome visitors on Wednesday, May 25. Both events will be held in the Big Gyms and run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

All community members are welcome to learn more about their local high schools, whether you have a child entering high school or not.  

“The open houses are an opportunity for those who live in Vallejo to see the great things happening right here in our backyards,” Assistant Superintendent Dr. Michael Santos said. “We prepare our students to build their future with career pathways and specialized programs.” 

At the events, administrators, faculty, and students will share their experiences at their respective schools. 

Jesse Bethel High School will highlight some of its pathways, including biomedical. The health science and technology industry sector continues to be one of the fastest-growing industry sectors in California. 

Vallejo High School will feature its academies, including biotechnology, engineering, multimedia, and hospitality. Academies are small schools within the high school that provide students with a cohort model that is taught by a team of teachers who collaborate to create and implement a curriculum that integrates academic courses with essential career and technical skills. The academies partner with businesses to ensure that our students are prepared to succeed in the workplace and higher education.  

“We want to prepare Vallejo students for whatever their next step will be–whether college or a career,” Santos said. “In Vallejo, we have the tools and opportunities for our kids to succeed at whatever path they choose.”
