Here are a few highlights from the July 26 board meeting and the complete agenda packet. 

Nancy Orpilla Scholarship
On July 16, 2023, a concert was held in honor of Nancy Orpilla, a Federal Terrace teacher who passed away in late April. The show raised $10,600, and all proceeds will provide scholarships for VCUSD graduates who want to become teachers. Orpilla’s husband, Mel, and friends commissioned the fundraising event in his wife’s honor. The Nancy Orpilla Memorial Scholarship will be a $1000 yearly scholarship for those who will continue her legacy of love and teaching. 

Collective Bargaining Agreements 
The Board approved successor collective bargaining agreements with VEA and CSEA.
