VALLEJO, Calif. - The California Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Coalition has recently acknowledged the outstanding efforts of three Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) institutions. Vallejo High School was honored with a Silver PBIS designation, while Cooper Elementary and Mare Island Fitness Academy received well-deserved Bronze distinctions.

VCUSD Superintendent William Spalding expressed his pride, "These recognitions symbolize and celebrate our unwavering commitment to enhancing the campus environment through PBIS. These three accolades are a testament to the dedication of our exceptional staff and students in creating a nurturing environment for student success."

In Solano County, VCUSD schools stood out, with three out of the 13 schools honored. Notably, this recognition comes after nearly 1,800 schools statewide in California submitted their applications for the award.

The California PBIS Coalition is a collaborative organization that employs evidence-based and culturally relevant practices to empower all stakeholders in implementing PBIS as a multi-tiered system. This approach aligns with the National PBIS Blueprints for professional development, implementation, and evaluation. The California PBIS Coalition embarked on its statewide recognition program in 2015 to acknowledge schools for their commendable implementation of PBIS.
