Cooper Elementary Turns Daily Announcements Into Video Production

VALLEJO, Calif. - When the PA system at Cooper Elementary School experienced technical issues, Principal Janice Lubin needed to devise a quick solution for communicating daily messages to students and staff.

The school harnessed creativity and resourcefulness by introducing a new morning routine to address this challenge. Students who wished to deliver morning announcements now had the opportunity to do so in front of a green screen, creating a video update. Every morning at 9:15 a.m., classes join a Google Meet session, where they can watch three of their peers present the announcements. Students and staff hear about attendance, PBIS focus, school activities, celebrations, observances, and math, science, or ELA facts of the day. At present, eight enthusiastic students have volunteered to take part in this innovative video production initiative.
