VALLEJO, Calif. - The Walnut Creek-based Yours Humanly organization recently raised more than $10,000 during its fund-a-need auction at its recent annual gala and helped Grace Patterson Elementary School purchase level readers.

“The funds will be used to purchase leveled readers for our students so our teachers can continue to provide quality early literacy instruction and give the gift of literacy to our students,” Patterson Elementary Principal Megan De La Mater. “We are so grateful for the opportunity to partner with Yours Humanly to purchase these books for our students and teachers.”

Leveled readers use assessment tools to determine a child’s reading level and then match kids to challenging books. The books meet students where they are and make sure that each child is challenged, no matter where they are in their learning process.

The leveled readers purchased with the Yours Humanly funds will focus on science and non-fiction stories.

Yours Humanly is a global organization dedicated to helping children in need receive the education they deserve. While most of its work has benefited international work, the company recently began assisting Title I schools.
